Deleting your organization is a permanent, irreversible action that removes every piece of data associated with your account — invoices, estimates, clients, businesses, team members, and settings. This tutorial explains exactly what happens at each step so there are no surprises.
Who Can Delete an Organization?
Only users with the Administrator role can see and use the Delete Organization option. Managers, crew members, and accountants do not have access — the option is completely hidden from their profile menu.
Step 1 — Open Delete Organization
- Tap your profile icon at the top of the screen to open the account menu.
- Scroll down to the Administration section.
- Tap Delete Organization (red trash icon).
This opens the Danger Zone warning screen.
Step 2 — Review the Danger Zone Warning
The first screen is designed to make absolutely sure you understand what you’re about to do. You’ll see:
- A large warning triangle icon in red.
- The heading “Danger Zone” in bold red text.
- A description explaining that this is a “nuclear option” that will permanently delete your entire organization — all users, businesses, invoices, estimates, clients, and all other data.
- A reminder that this action cannot be undone and that all team members will be logged out.
Below the description, a detailed list spells out exactly what will be permanently deleted:
| Data That Will Be Deleted |
|---|
| All your invoices |
| All your estimates |
| All your clients |
| All your business data |
| All your settings |
| All team members and their data |
At the bottom of the screen you have two options:
- Continue — proceeds to the confirmation step.
- Cancel — closes the screen and returns you to the profile menu. Nothing is deleted.
Step 3 — Type the Confirmation Phrase
After tapping Continue, you’re taken to the final confirmation screen. This is the last safeguard before deletion.
- You’ll see a “Confirm Deletion” heading and a final warning: “This is your final warning. All your data will be permanently deleted.”
- Below the warning, a text field asks you to type the exact phrase:
DELETE MY ORGANIZATION
- Type the phrase exactly as shown. The comparison is not case-sensitive, so uppercase or lowercase both work.
- The Delete Organization button stays grayed out and disabled until the phrase matches. Once it matches, the button turns red and becomes tappable.
- Italian: ELIMINA LA MIA ORGANIZZAZIONE
- Spanish: ELIMINAR MI ORGANIZACIÓN
- Albanian: FSHI ORGANIZATËN TIME
Step 4 — Deletion in Progress
After you tap Delete Organization, a full-screen overlay appears with a spinning progress indicator and the message “Deleting organization…”. During this time:
- All data is being removed from the server in a specific order to maintain data integrity.
- Do not close the app or lose your internet connection during this step.
- The process typically completes within a few seconds.
Step 5 — After Deletion
Once the deletion is complete:
- You are automatically logged out and returned to the sign-in screen.
- All team members who were part of your organization are also effectively logged out — their accounts no longer exist, so any active sessions will end.
- Your account, along with every invoice, estimate, client, business profile, and setting, is permanently erased.
If you want to use Invoice Genie again, you’ll need to create a brand-new account and start fresh.

Before You Delete — Checklist
We strongly recommend completing these steps before proceeding:
| ✓ | Action |
|---|---|
| ☐ | Download or email PDF copies of any invoices and estimates you need to keep. |
| ☐ | Export your client list or save contact details externally. |
| ☐ | Disconnect any connected payment processors (Square, PayPal, Stripe) so authorizations are cleanly revoked. |
| ☐ | Notify your team members that the organization will be removed. |
| ☐ | Make sure you have a stable internet connection. |
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Solution |
|---|---|
| I don’t see “Delete Organization” in my menu | Only Administrators can delete the organization. Ask your admin if you need this action performed. |
| The “Delete Organization” button stays gray | You must type the confirmation phrase exactly: DELETE MY ORGANIZATION. Check for extra spaces or typos. |
| An error appears during deletion | Check your internet connection and try again. If the problem persists, contact support. |
| I deleted my organization by mistake | Unfortunately, this action is permanent and cannot be reversed. You will need to create a new account. |
| My team members are still logged in after deletion | Their sessions will end automatically the next time the app tries to refresh. They can also force-close and reopen the app. |
